Chorleywood Orchestra invite beginners, returners-to-playing and professionals to join their orchestra for the afternoon

Calling musicians of all ages and abilities!

Following on from our hugely successful side by side event last year, the Orchestra is back with Chorleywood Music Day, a special event of music making and fun. Join us for musical games, instrumental tryouts, sectional rehearsals and a concert of family favourites and toe tapping classics!


The Russell School, Brushwood Drive, Chorleywood, Hertfordshire WD3 5RR

Timetable for the day:

  • 12.30-1.30pm musical games and musicianship in sections
  • 1.30 – 2pm cake break!
  • 2-4pm rehearsal with the orchestra
  • 4pm-4.30pm cake break!
  • 4.30 Family performance
  • 5pm close

Ever thought about learning a musical instrument but not sure which one or where to start?

Come along to our try out event, we will have instruments for you and your children to play, guided by one of our local talented teenage musicians.  Use the time to see how they work, what they sound like and if you can get a sound out of them and ask any questions you like.  The event is in Chorleywood with no charge, all we ask is you fill in our form Instrumental Tryouts sign up so that we know you are coming.

Choose from a selection of guitar, violin, cello, flute, recorder, saxophone, trumpet, french horn, trombone and piano 

We will give out listings of local instrument teachers and there will be loads of advice available from the many musicians at the event if you or your child are maybe thinking about playing a musical instrument.

Date: Sunday 1st July

Time: 11.00am-1pm

Place:  The Main Hall, Russell School, Chorleywood, Brushwood Drive, WD3 5RR

All ages welcome.  Children need to be accompanied by an adult.
