January 2023 – Music from Movies & Musicals
Chorleywood Orchestra kicked off 2023 with a bang by performing two sold-out family concerts at the War Memorial Hall on Sunday 15th January on the theme of “Music from Movies and Musicals”.
Children and their parents were excited to hear the orchestra, in full fancy dress, perform music from Harry Potter, Star Wars, Encanto, Mamma Mia, ET, Pirates of the Caribbean and Frozen. Talented orchestra member Marianne Ryall, dressed as Queen Elsa, joined the orchestra to sing “Let It Go” and voiceover artist Carla Terry presented the show, which included a demonstration of all the instruments to the delight of the families.
Our conductor Daniel Hogan directed the concert in full ABBA costume, even using a tiny light saber as a baton! And some children had the opportunity to have a turn at conducting Pirates of the Caribbean. The two concerts sold out in a day and the orchestra are thrilled to hear that they inspired many children who attended the concerts to pick up instruments themselves.
