Last Sunday (1st July 2018) we welcomed over 50 musicians and children to sample a musical instrument or play alongside our orchestra at Chorleywood Music Day!
The morning started with a musical tryout session with children as young as three having a go at instruments as varied as the ukulele and the French Horn. We’re so proud of Chorleywood’s young instrumentalists who gave their time and enthusiasm, you are awesome!
The Afternoon session kicked off with sectional warm ups and rehearsals followed by a full rehearsal alongside the Chorleywood Orchestra. We played three of the BBC ten pieces (Elgar’s Enigma variations, Wagners Ride of the Valkyries and Mussorsky’s Night on Bare Mountain), the Harry Potter Theme, A Classical Medley arranged by Andrew McFarlane and Sibelius’ Finlandia.
Thank-you to everyone who made the day happen including Chorleywood Parish Council for their financial grant, the Russell school for the use of their facilities and Prozone and Thwaites for the loan of their instruments for the musical tryouts.
