Jamaal Kashim was winner of the 2024 Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year competition

17-year-old harpist Jamaal Kashim studies under Daphne Boden at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, and has excelled in both recital and orchestral settings. He has performed as a concerto soloist with the Windsor & Maidenhead Symphony Orchestra and Reading Symphony Orchestra, and will perform with the Chorleywood Orchestra, London International Concert Orchestra, and Waverley Ensemble in 2025. Recognized for his virtuosity, Jamaal was a BBC Young Musician 2024 semi-finalist and won first prizes in the Rickmansworth and Reading Symphony Orchestra Young Musicians’ Competitions. He is a three-time winner of the RCMJD Gordon Turner Harp Competition and has performed at prestigious venues like the Berlin Konzerthaus and Royal Albert Hall. In addition to his harp performance, Jamaal is a talented composer, winning the Robinson College New Directions Prize 2024 and being featured on BBC Radio 3. He was home-educated and plans to further his studies at university. We are delighted to have him join us to perform Gliere's beautiful harp concerto.
